DJ Earworm - Pop 2011 (Don't Stop the Pop) Spaindeejays

Tis the season of the year-end recap, and DJ Earworm has a pop-packed gift for everyone. Yesterday he released his annual "United State of Pop" mashup, featuringBillboard's 25 most popular songs of the year. True to 2010, there's a heavy serving of Katy Perry, Usher, Ke$ha, Taio Cruz, and Lady Gaga, with some Eminem and Rihanna sprinkled in as well. Its partnering video also blends the year's pop treats into one big montage of a club-hopping lovefest. Check it out for yourself after the jump. SPAINDEEJAYS BLOG.

Not as good as 2009 but that's to be expected since all the songs were so different this year…I still downloaded it asap!

2009 was freaking golden. nothing will top that.
i was a tad disappointed too. soo much gaga and he hardly did anything with it. not to say this isn't good, or impressive, just not up to par on last years.

i prefered previous year's mashups by dj Earworm…. but I love having a little time capsule of music available to me in the future. to look back and reminisce in the years ahead. all great songs

I can take small doses of katy Perry but that Firework song is truly nauseating to me. Such tried and true lyrics (basically follow your dream..havent heard that one 1000 times in the last few years) and the tune is particularly annoying beyond belief (and that boom boom part sucks even more)..I realize this is just one mans opinion.

I'm not a fan of the song either but if you actually listened to the lyrics you'd realize the song is more about picking yourself up and believing in yourself even when you feel the most worthless. Its not exactly a more unique message but its far from "follow your dream"

This is really disappointing, but not because of DJ Earworm's work. Pop music just was not very good this year. It's become dumbed down and more manufactured than ever before, mainly thanks to artists like the Black Eyed Peas (for the record, I hated "Boom Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling" but "United State of Pop 2009 – Blame It On the Pop" was my favorite DJ Earworm mashup).
The same four or five artists are responsible for half of the songs in the top 25, similar to the 2007 mashup when T-Pain and Akon dominated the charts.
When I think of 2010, no pop song comes to my mind more than "Empire State of Mind." It was a truly distinctive track that I wish would have been represented more in the new mashup. Would have liked to see more "Bad Romance" as well. Here's hoping 2011 provides DJ Earworm with some better material with which to work!
